FOREIGN MINISTER NAMI VISITS TDP LEADER

The Minister of Foreign Affairs – Özdil Nami visited the Leader of Communal Democracy Party (TDP) Cemal Özyiğit at TDP Central Office yesterday (16th December).

During the meeting, stating that he and his party have full belief in democracy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nami said that unions, non-governmental organizations and political parties should be Ozdil Nami 2informed about every issue, especially about each phase of the Cyprus issue and added that this was the mission and responsibility of the government.

Expressing that his visit was made due to that reason, Foreign Minister Nami informed the leader of TDP, Özyiğit about the last phase of the leaders’ joint statement. Nami also gave information about the current process of the Cyprus problem and his studies as the Minister of Foreign Affairs since he has taken over his mission.

Moreover, noting the views and proposals of TDP regarding the process, Nami underlined that he would continue to inform all parts of the community regarding the Cyprus problem since it was the most important problem that concerns all the people.

Nami pointed out the fact that the Communal Democracy Party (TDP) should continue to support the efforts towards reaching a settlement in Cyprus as with their support given during the Annan plan process.

In his speech, Özyiğit expressed his satisfaction and thanked Nami for his meaningful visit.

DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER SERDAR DENKTAŞ EVALUATED MESSAGES OF AHMET DAVUTOĞLU

Authorities of political parties represented at the Assembly evaluated the messages given by the Turkish Foreign Minister – Ahmet Davutoğlu during his visit in the TRNC.

Serdar Denktas 3Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Democrat Party – Serdar Denktaş evaluated the contacts of Ahmet Davutoğlu as being ‘important’.

Denktaş stressed that at the meeting they had with Davutoğlu they confirmed again the consensus reached in the issue of ‘continuing with a solution focused approach’.

Expressing that the Democrat Party had an opinion that some concessions were made regarding the joint statement Denktaş said: “we shall see if the negotiations can start in spite of these concessions. However, we shall continue to support the process.”
