FOREIGN MINISTER NAMİ ATTENDS 40th OIC ‘COUNCIL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS’ MEETING

Foreign Minister – Özdil Nami is going to attend the 40th “Council of Foreign Ministers” Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) to be held in Conakry, the capital of Guinea between 9th and 12th December.

Foreign Minister’s Private Secretary – Hüseyin Özel, Director of the TRNC Foreign Ministry’s Department for Relations with OIC – Arif Altay and 3rd Secretary – Hakan Aksoy will accompany the Foreign Minister during his visit.

OIC 40th MEETING OF “COUNCIL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS” BEGINS TODAY

It has been stated that the Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) 40th meeting of the “Council of Foreign Ministers” begins today (9.12.2013) in Conakry, the capital city of the Republic of Guinea.

Ozdil Nami 4The TRNC which is among the observer status countries will be represented by the Foreign Minister – Ozdil Nami and the accompanying delegation.

The theme of the meeting is “Dialog among civilizations, factor of peace and the sustainable development” and will be attended by the representatives of the observer status countries such as the TRNC, Bosnia Herzegovina, Central African Republic, Russia and Thailand as well as 57 OIC member countries.

It has been expressed that the tragedy in Syria, the situation in Gaza under Israeli embargoes, settlements of Israel in West Bank, spoiling Jerusalem’s ethnicity by the Jews, the agreement between Iran and the USA, famine in Somalia, clashes and internal security issues in Libya, negotiations continuing between Sudan and South Sudan, massacres in Myanmar, the situation in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan territory Karabağ which is occupied by Armenia and the Kashmir issue, will be on the agenda of the meeting.

It has been expected that studies for the recognition of Kosovo by more countries and for the UN membership of Kosovo will also be on the agenda of the meeting.

SECOND PROCESS IN CENTURY’S PROJECT

It was stated that the second pipeline sinking process has been achieved within the framework of ‘TRNC Water Gecitkoy ReservoirSupply Project’ which will transfer water to the TRNC.

In his statement made in Anamur where the studies regarding the project have been continuing, the Director of Detek Marine Technologies Company – Hakan Uğur said that firstly, they would conduct a 3km pipeline sinking and fixing process.

Moreover, Uğur stressed that the 500 metres second pipe sinking process has been continuing with expert staff including divers.

CONGRESS OF CTP/BG WAS HELD

A statement has been made regarding the number of votes in the CTP/BG Congress held in Lefkosa. The President of Council – Feridun OnsaÖzkan Yorgancıoğluv stated that 1015 delegates voted by signing, 1014 ballots were accepted as valid in the first phase and 1 ballot was accepted to be void. Onsav announced the number of delegates who voted in each district is as follows:

“Lefkosa 304, Gazimağusa 271, Girne 192, Güzelyurt 134, İskele 113 and London 1.”

The rate of voting was 90.86% at the Congress.

The Prime Minister – who has been elected as the leader of the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP/BG) for the second time said that they should contribute more to the Cyprus problem. He continued : “I believe that strengthening our unity both in solving the problems and contributing to the Cyprus issue is one of our significant duties.”
