SİBER: “SOLUTION OF THE CYPRUS PROBLEM CANNOT BE IMPOSED”

The Speaker of the Assembly – Sibel Siber, stated at one of her receptions that a solution regarding the Cyprus Sibel Siber 3problem cannot be imposed, a solution to be reached will be submitted to referendum.

Stating: ‘We should trust our people otherwise deadlock will be everlasting’, Siber said that deadlock in Cyprus has negative effects on the society, and the best way to prepare for a solution is to strengthen the institutions.

FOREIGN MINISTRY AND OIC WILL ORGANISE ‘WATER AND FOOD SECURITY CONFERENCE’

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) is going to organize a ‘Water and Food Security Conference’ during 22nd OIC Organization of Islamic Cooperationto 24th November at the Acapulco Hotel in Girne.

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Co-operation – Prof. Dr. Ekmeleddin İhsanoglu and the Minister of Forestry and Water of the Republic of Turkey – Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroglu will attend the conference which will start at 09:30 at the Acapulco Hotel in Girne on 22nd November.

A recitation from Holy Quran will be read, and then the Minister of Foreign Affairs – Ozdil Nami, will give the opening speech. Following the speech of Nami, the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources – Hamit Bakırcı, the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Energy – Onder Sennaroglu, the Minister of Forestry and Water of the Republic of Turkey – Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroglu and Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Co-operation – Prof. Dr. Ekmeleddin İhsanoglu, will give their speeches in sequence.

MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS NAMI CONTINUES TO INFORM NGO’S

The TRNC Minister of Foreign Affairs – Özdil Nami, is continuing to inform the NGO’s related to the latest developmentsOzdil Nami 4 in the Cyprus issue.  The third meeting will take place today 21st November 2013 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tıp-İş, Sağlık-Sen, Basın-Sen, DAÜ-SEN, DAÜ-BİR-SEN, and Cağ-Sen will participate in the meeting.

30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TRNC WAS CELEBRATED IN PAKISTAN

The 30th anniversary of the TRNC was celebrated with ceremonies in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The reception was Pakistan flaghosted by TRNC Ambassador to Pakistan – Mustafa Evran and his wife Belgin Evran at the Marriott Hotel.

As a representative of the Pakistan Government and a guest of honour, the Federal State Minister Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, the Head of Pakistan Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Pencab Minister of Environment, Pakistan Air Forces representatives, Senators, Parliamentarians, Pakistan Foreign Affairs members, businessmen and press members attended the reception.

‘Daily Ettihad’ and ‘Daily Pardes Islamabad’ newspapers published special issues for the  30th Anniversary of the TRNC.

OIC SECRETARY GENERAL İHSANOĞLU: “ECONOMIC ISOLATION IMPOSED UPON TURKISH CYPRIOTS HAS BEEN WEAKENED TO SOME EXTENT”

Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) informed the journalists about the agenda of the Islamic world and the works of the OIC, in his speech after the opening of the 29th Economic and CommerciEkmeleddin İhsanoğlual Co-operation Standing Committee (İSEDAK) Meeting in İstanbul.

İhsanoğlu stated that the TRNC’s trade volume with the Islamic countries has been doubled in 10 years. Stressing that they, as OIC, attached great importance to the TRNC, İhsanoğlu continued:

“Economic isolation, imposed upon the Turkish Cypriots has been weakened to some extent. The Cyprus issue is one of our important concerns. This is not only the cause of Turkey. We have managed to make it a concern for the entire Islamic world.”

İhsanoğlu will come to the TRNC today to receive the honorary doctorate, granted by the Lefke European University (LAU).

During his visit to the TRNC, before the Honorary Doctorate Ceremony at LAU on Friday (22 November), İhsanoğlu will also be received by President – Derviş Eroğlu, Prime Minister – Özkan Yorgancıoğlu and Foreign Minister – Özdil Nami.

UK SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS HAGUE: “SERIOUS EFFORTS HAVE BEEN MADE REGARDING THE CYPRUS ISSUE”

William HagueUK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs – William Hague said in the joint press conference after the meeting he had with the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu that serious efforts had been made regarding the Cyprus issue and he wished that all those efforts reach a conclusion. Hague stated “There is an important opportunity in the coming months. I hope everyone shows a positive reaction and takes advantage of this opportunity.”

CTCI  DELEGATION MET WITH ERBIL TRADE MINISTER CELEBI

It has been stated that a delegation from the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry (CTCI) met with North Iraq Iraq AgrofoodRegional Kurdish Administration Industry and Trade Minister – Sinan Çelebi, in Erbil. The delegation is in Erbil in order to participate in the fair Agrofood 2013.

According to the information given by the Chamber of Industry Press Agent – Hüseyin Ezgin, the delegation informed Celebi about the Chamber and the production in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
