PRESIDENT EROĞLU: “AN AGREEMENT DOES NOT DEPEND ONLY ON THE TURKISH SIDE”

President Eroğlu has stressed that the Greek Cypriot side has been insisting on their intention to keep the Dervis Eroglu 8Turkish side at the negotiation table instead of making an agreement. Indicating that an agreement does not depend only on the Turkish side, Eroğlu added that the other side should also desire a solution. Eroğlu continued: “we have not seen such a desire from the Greek Side up to now.”

Eroğlu said: “If we learn to live in a good neighbourhood relationship we already have peace in Cyprus. There is no fight and bloodshed. Establishing a partnership is the important issue. Is it possible? This will be clear in time. This has not been achieved up to now. We are not guilty. Greek side is guilty.

FOREIGN MINISTER NAMI UNDERLINED THE IMPORTANCE OF MEDIA IN INFORMING PUBLIC OPINION ON CYPRUS PROBLEM

A delegation from the Cyprus Turkish Journalists’ Association was received by Foreign Minister – Özdil Nami.

In his reception Foreign Minister Özdil Nami underlined the importance of the press and the media in informing the public on the Cyprus Problem at every stage. Nami said that Quill Penthey were ready for all sorts of co-operation and support.

Pointing out that the press in South Cyprus frequently misreported events or reported stories which did not reflect the truth, Nami underlined the importance of reporting from the first source. He also said that it was important to report to the world correctly about the developments in the TRNC.

The President of the Cyprus Turkish Journalists’ Association Hüseyin Güven conveyed the problems experienced by journalists in opening up to the world. Possible joint projects or activities were also discussed at the meeting. Güven also said that they wanted to discuss what could be done to contribute to the upcoming negotiation process.

FOREIGN MINISTER NAMI RECEIVES BASS AUTHORITIES

The Minister of Foreign Affairs  received the authorities of Cyprus Turkish Office, Bank, Insurance and Trade Ozdil Nami 3Workers Union (BASS) yesterday, Tuesday 19th Novemebr 2013.

In his speech, FM Nami said that the government gives importance to be in relation with non governmental organizations and unions. Stressing that they have started studies in order to develop relations with unions and non governmental organizations, Nami said that they would exchange views with BASS authorities about both the Cyprus issue and government actions.

NATO SECRETARY GENERAL RASMUSSEN: ‘I DESIRE PROGRESS ON THE CYPRUS ISSUE’

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that he desires Anders Fogh Rasmussen 2to see progress on the Cyprus issue.

Participating in the Foreign Council where the EU has discussed the defence policy, Rasmussen expressed that he did not want to intervene in the EU’s decisions and added: ‘I desire to see progress on the Cyprus issue. We need a solution that will unite both sides on the Cyprus problem. Solution to be reached will be to the advantage of both peoples in the island, the EU and NATO too. It may also develop the partnership between NATO and the EU.

AUSTRIAN AMBASSADOR VISITS LEFKOSA TURKISH MUNICIPALITY

Austrian Ambassador – Karl Mueller, visited the Mayor of Lefkosa Turkish Municipality (LTB) – Kadri Fellahoglu, yesterday Tuesday 19th November 2013.

According to the statement of LTB Press Office, during the meeting, beside joint projects of Lefkosa Turkish Karl Mueller Austrian AmbassadorMunicipality and Lefkosa Greek Municipality, the Cyprus problem and LTB’s plans and projects were also  discussed.

In his speech, Ambassador Mueller expressed his satisfaction for LTB being in good relations with Lefkosa Greek Municipality and also expressed his support for joint projects of both municipalities and wished continuation of such projects.

Mueller wished for an immediate solution of the Cyprus problem. Pointing out that theTurkish Cypriot people have put forward their will for a solution for many years, Fellahoglu said that a solution should be reached as soon as possible within the framework of the UN parameters.

CELEBRATION OF 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TRNC IN ROME

The 30th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was celebrated with a reception organized in the capital city of Rome in Italy.TRNC Flag

The reception hosted by the TRNC Representative in Rome, Növber Ferit Vechi, was organized at the social facility belonging to Italian Armed Forces near the Presidential Palace Quirinale.

The TRNC Representative Vechi expressed that they celebrated November 15th this year as they do every year both within the country and abroad and pointed out that the TRNC has not gained her independence in the international arena yet.

“THIRD WORLD TURKISH CYPRIOTS CONGRESS” TO BE HELD BETWEEN 21-23 NOVEMBER

It has been reported that “Third World Turkish Cypriots Congress” which was organized by the World Turkish Turkish Cypriots WorldwideCypriots Foundation, will be held at Girne Acapulco Resort Hotel during 21st to 23rd November 2013.

According to the information issued by the Foundation Congress Organization Committee, 30 presentations will be given in 6 sessions during the congress.

Three open sessions will be held within the framework of the congress namely: “The right to elect and be elected in the TRNC for Turkish Cypriots living in foreign countries”; “The scale of the hydrocarbon reserves that the island of Cyprus possesses, its possible sharing method, regional alliances that it will create, and strategy which has to be developed by the TRNC Administration, its contribution to the Turkish and Greek Cypriot economic development and its effect on the solution of the Cyprus problem” and “ The evaluation of the Turkish Cypriot people’s structural development within the framework  historical perspective during the political life of the 50 year period between 1963-2013 and the new political target and strategy anticipated for the Turkish Cypriot side.”

TURKISH CYPRIOT PRODUCERS ATTENDED FOOD FAIR IN IRAQ

It has been reported that the International Erbil Agriculture and Food Fair which is one of the important food fairs in the Middle East, was attended by the Turkish Cypriot producers Iraq Agrofoodwith ‘North Cyprus’ brand under the umbrella of Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry ( CTCI).

According to the information given by the Chamber of Industry Press Agent – Hüseyin Ezgin, coffee, citrus fruits, carob molasses, nuts, cleaning papers, dairy products, chicken, egg and potatoes were displayed at the fair where 30 participants attended in order to represent North Cyprus and  to search for trade opportunities.

The Fair Co-ordinator of CTCI – Feriha Bıyıklıoğlu, said that they attended the fair with 7 firms last year and with 10 firms this year.

BRITAIN’S SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, WILLIAM HAGUE TO VISIT TURKEY

It has been reported that Britain’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, William Hague is visiting Turkey today William HagueWednesday 20th November 2013. TR Foreign Minister – Ahmet Davutoğlu will have a meeting with William Hague. It was reported in the statement made that within the framework of the visit, co-operation in the struggle for terrorism, Turkey-EU relations, developments in the EU; Cyprus, mainly Syria and other up-to-date regional and international issues will also be taken up as well as Turkey-UK bilateral relations in the meeting of Davutoglu and his British counterpart in Istanbul.

TURKISH CYPRIOT SIGNATURE IN AZERBAIJAN SYMBOL

It has been reported that the detailed design of ‘Haydar Aliyev Cultural Center’ which has been the symbol of Azerbaijan was made by the representative of “Zahahadid Architecture” Haydar Aliyev Cultural CenterTurkish Cypriot architect Saffet Kaya Bekiroğlu.

It is known that ‘Haydar Aliyev Cultural Centre’ is the biggest project in the world which has been built by  “Zahahadid Architecture.”

The project has also the cultural trace of the country as well as its modern outlook. The centre reflects rise and waves of Hazar in the Azerbaijan Mythology.
