30TH ANNIVERSARY OF TRNC WILL BE CELEBRATED
The 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will be celebrated with various events and joy on 15th November 2013.
Official celebrations of the Republic Day will start with an address to the nation by President Derviş Eroğlu on Bayrak Radio and Television on 14th November (Today). This will be followed by a 21 gun salute.
Ceremonies will also be held at the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Monument and founding President Rauf Denktaş’s graveside.
Celebrations will continue with a ceremony and parade at the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard tomorrow.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Atalay will come to the TRNC today in order to participate in the celebrations. Various delegations from Turkey will also participate in the ceremonies like every year.
PRESIDENT EROĞLU RECEIVES FOREIGN PARLIAMENTARIANS
President Derviş Eroğlu received the foreign parliamentarians who have been in the TRNC within the framework of 30th anniversary of the establishment of TRNC.
The foreign parliamentarians who are from a wide range of countries such as Pakistan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan and Burkina Faso were briefed by President Derviş Eroğlu on the history and current developments of the Cyprus Problem.
EROĞLU BRIEFED TURKISH AND FOREIGN PRESS MEMBERS
President Derviş Eroğlu stressed that the joint statement has been discussed for nearly two months.
TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu briefed the Turkish and foreign press members who came to the TRNC in order to participate in the 15th November Republic day celebrations. Eroğlu indicated in the meeting that the Cyprus negotiations process has been stuck at the stage of preparation of a joint statement.
Eroğlu stated that for the first time they were facing a precondition before starting the negotiations. Eroğlu said:
“First they wanted Maras. By the way, when we start negotiations one of the issues to be discussed is ‘property and territory’. Then they put forward a new precondition. Even if we said that there is no need for a joint statement we accepted the text prepared by the UN Special Representative to Cyprus – Alexander Downer. The Greek side refused the text and we have been discussing this for the last two months.”
FOREIGN MINISTER ÖZDIL NAMI RECEIVES MEYER AND FOREIGN PARLIAMENTARIANS
Foreign Minister Özdil Nami received former Defence Minister of South Africa Roelf Meyer yesterday (13th November).
Meyer congratulated Nami and wished him success in his mission.
FM Nami also received the foreign parliamentarians who have been in the TRNC within the framework of 30th anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC from a wide range of countries such as Pakistan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan and Burkina Faso.
TURKISH CYPRIOT PRODUCERS TO PARTICIPATE IN FAIR IN ERBIL
Turkish Cypriot producers are going to participate in the ‘ Iraq Agro food 2013’ which is one of the most important food fairs in the Middle East at the umbrella stand of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry and with the trademark ‘North Cyprus’.
According to the information given by the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry, the fair which is going to be organized in Erbil will be open to visits during 18th November to 2nd December. A group of about 30 participants, as representatives of North Cyprus, will attend the fair and display Turkish Cypriot products such as coffee, citrus fruits, carob molasses, cleaning tissues, milk products and potatoes.
