Eroğlu  also  noted that he would raise his views on these issues  primarily to the UN Secretary General  and during all his other contacts in New York.

President Eroğlu  is expected to meet with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Co-operation, Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, today (24th September) and participate in the reception to be hosted by the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations in  honour of Turkish President Abdullah Gül.

Stating that Turkish Cypriot side responded with a request for a meeting with Greece in return for the continuous request made by the Greek Cypriot side for a meeting with Turkey however this has never been accepted, Ertuğ said: “We were insistent that the negotiations should be on the basis of equality. Therefore, such an arrangement has been made. This is an important development”.
