EROĞLU: ‘TIME HAS COME FOR AN EARLY RESOLUTION TO THE CYPRUS DISPUTE’

Having made a speech during the ceremony at the Muratağa-Sandallar Martyrdom ceremony, President Derviş Eroğlu has remarked that there are 2 different peoples and States in Cyprus which have different languages, religion and geography and said :‘the Turkish Cypriot people will not give up ruling themselves with their established government, democratic system, political parties and civil organizations.’

If the Greek Cypriot side keeps its promise and does not attempt to twist the facts, the negotiations will be launched, said Eroğlu and added that the Turkish Cypriot side has a clear manner about the issue and the time has come for an early resolution to the Cyprus dispute.

President Eroğlu has emphasized that Turkish Cypriots have good intentions and they are in favour of peace and a solution.

Calling for lifting the embargoes and isolations on the Turkish Cypriots President Eroğlu said: ‘At the presence of our martyrs, I would like to call the United Nations, European Union and related third world countries to stop allowing the Greek Cypriot side to grasp our rights and keep us under the isolations and embargoes.’

EROĞLU RECEIVED DELEGATION OF CONFEDERATIONS COMMUNITY OF TURKEY

President Derviş Eroğlu has received the Chairman of the Confederations Community of Turkey, Nezaket Emine Atasoy and the accompanying delegation.

According to the statement released by the Presidency Press Office, in his speech Eroğlu has stated his appreciation to the Confederations Community of Turkey due to its volunteer lobby on behalf of the TRNC and said ‘Turkish and TRNC flagFacts told on behalf of the TRNC makes us pleased.’

Eroğlu has said that the TRNC has difficulties in order to globalize due to embargoes and because of these embargoes, foreign investors are prevented to come to the country.

Having emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people and Turkey have already proven that they are in favour of a solution in the island, President Derviş Eroğlu said that the Greek Cypriot side acts unwillingly.

For these reasons isolations must be lifted as soon as possible, said Eroğlu and added that the initiators of the incidents in Cyprus are now a member of the European Union.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Kutlay Erk has received the TRNC Werl, Germany, Honorary Consul, Özdemir.

According to the statement by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Undersecretary Hilmi Akil also attended the meeting which lasted more than one hour.

According to the statement, during the meeting Kandemir Özdemir gave information about the honorary consular services and views were exchanged on the possible works for the next period.

NEU IS AMONG TOP 500 UNIVERSITIES IN 23 THOUSAND UNIVERSITIES AROUND THE WORLD IN TERMS OF ‘GLOBAL ACCESS TO ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE’

Near East University (NEU) is reported to have been among the list of top 500 universities from 23 thousand universities around the world in terms of ‘global access to academic knowledge’.

Near East UniversityAccording to the written statement received from the NEU, the NEU has been ranked in the 475th position in the list of the universities on the website www.webometrics.info.

The NEU has also the 2122nd position in the ‘Excellence Ranking’ and the 749th position in the ‘Europe Ranking’.

In the statement, it has been reminded that the NEU has recently won the ‘Best University Award in the Golden Category of 2013’ in Switzerland, ‘Golden Award for Quality & Business Prestige’ in Rome, ‘2013 International Arch of Europe Award’ in Frankfurt, ‘Best University Hospital Award’ in Holland, ‘14th of the Robotic Football Competition’ and said that NEU has finished its development and now ascends to the top, having the honour of being a pioneer to the other developing universities.
