Wooden Faces of Cyprus Exhibition
By Margaret Sheard
I have previously been invited to an exhibition of the work of well-known sculptor Ismail Işilsoy but unfortunately did not manage to get there which was a great disappointment to me. I especially wanted to show Ismail a picture carved in wood which I bought in Slovenia many years ago to see what he thought of it. Now I will have the opportunity as there is to be an exhibition on the 9th, 10th and 11th August and I will certainly be attending this time.
Ismail Işilsoy, who lives in Yeşilirmak, will be holding his 10th consecutive summer exhibition and will be showing a limited collection of wood carving masks which can be seen at the Aphrodite Beachfront Village in Gaziveren. The opening of the exhibition is at 8pm on 9th August followed by all day on the 10th and 11th August. There will be a short cello concert performed by musician Muharrem Cemoglu at the opening evening.
We are told that the most amazing sunset in the island can be seen from this area, so something else to look forward to seeing.
