20th OF JULY PEACE AND FREEDOM DAY HAS BEEN CELEBRATED

EROĞLU:“TRNC IS THE CONCRETE SHAPE OF FREEDOM AND SAFETY AND THE MOST IMPORTANT CONSEQUENCE OF 2OTH OF JULY PEACE OPERATION’’

President of the Republic, Derviş Eroğlu said that TRNC was the concrete shape of freedom and safety and the most important consequence of the 20th of July Peace Operation.

Having made a speech at the ceremony taking place at the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard within the scope of 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations, Eroğlu remarked that the existence of the government was the greatest power and no one should speak Dervis Erogluagainst and make it seem less important. He also added that he remembers how North Cyprus was born after 1974 very clearly.

Eroğlu emphasized that having celebrated the 39th year of the 20th of July Peace Operation in the month of Ramadan, made it more meaningful.

Stressing that the 20th of July Peace Operation was the beginning of a new period not only for the Turkish Cypriots but also for Turkey, the President of the Republic Derviş Eroğlu said: ‘Turkey has proven her determination by the Cyprus Turkish Peace Operation.”

Eroğlu also added that 20th of July has brought peace also to Greece and the Greek Cypriot Community by opening a door to democracy and saving them from junta and EOKA and said : “If there was an invention in Cyprus, that had been realized by the Greek Cypriots ”Mentioning the Cyprus issue and the appointment of Nikos Anastasiades as the leader Eroğlu indicated that Anastasiades’s policy would be no different than the previous ones.

‘Either there will be a solution or they will not close our way anymore. Like all the other issues going on in the world, Turkish Cypriots should be given a chance and opportunity.’ told Eroğlu.

Eroğlu reminded how the Turkish Cypriots formed a government and made their way from darkness to light with the 20th of July Peace Nikos AnastasiadisOperation. He continued his speech by saying:

“The Greek Cypriot National Council evaluated their diplomacy with a meeting on Tuesday. It is clear that Nikos Anastasiades who was appointed to the leadership of the Greek Cypriot Administration in February and who has said that he would not make any negotiation until October, shall be no different than the previous negotiators. Greek Cypriot leaders can change, but their diplomacy never changes. We have been always waiting to see if by chance their mentality changes, but it has been proven again that it is not going to happen.”

Eroğlu said that the Greek Cypriot Leader Anastasiades gave all the power to the National Council.

‘’20TH OF JULY PAVED THE WAY FOR DEMOCRACY’’

Eroğlu has addressed the people as:“My fellow brothers and sisters, Turkish Cypriot Turkish and TRNC flagCommunity, I am calling out again here one more time that the 20th of July 1974 Peace Operation is not an invasion. The existence of the Turkish Army here is not an invasion.”

Having said that Greek Cypriots had turned the jointly-formed Cyprus Government into an Hellenic Government by force of arms, Eroğlu expressed that the Greek Cypriots wanted to make Cyprus a part of Greece.

Eroğlu said that having a look at the news in the Greek Cypriot media, it can be seen why they are not willing for negotiations for a solution and why they still dream of Cyprus before 1974.

PRESIDENT OF REPUBLIC OF TURKEY GÜL HAS SENT A GREETING MESSAGE TO PRESIDENT EROĞLU

The President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gül, has said that a solution of the Cyprus issue will create comforting results not only in the island but also in the Eastern Mediterranean region and Turkey’s full and effective guarantee will be an indispensable element of peace and stability.

In a statement made by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Press Centre, it has been informed that Gül sent a message to the President Abdullah Gül sml - Wikipedia picturePresident of the Republic, Derviş Eroğlu, within the scope of the 39thanniversary of the 20th of July 1974 Peace Operation, including his greetings to the President of the Republic and the Turkish Cypriot Community.

Expressing that the peace operation in 1974 was the assurance of the self-determination of Turkish Cypriots, Gül mentioned that Turkey will support North Cyprus in all circumstances today and in the future.

In his letter, Gül said: “It could not be possible to generate a fair, permanent and comprehensive solution pursuant to the UN Secretary General’s Good Offices Mission between the years 2008-2012 and form a new joint government, due to the unwillingness and uncompromising manner of the Greek Cypriots, no matter all the productive efforts of your community under your leadership. We are supporting all the attempts that will be made from this moment in order to solve the Cyprus issue that is now in its 50th year and putting our faith in a same sincere manner of Greek Cypriots and a fast solution.

Gül said that Turkey will keep her strong support to the Turkish Cypriots’ attempts for a negotiated and fair solution based on equality and remarked again that this solution will create comforting results not only to the island but also to the whole Eastern Mediterranean region.

ERDOĞAN: “TURKEY WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT A LASTING SOLUTION”

The Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, sent a congratulation message to Recep Tayyip ErdoganTRNC President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu on the occasion of 39th anniversary of the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day.

In his message, Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey, as the Guarantor country, will always support a lasting solution.

He also added in his message that for the peace and welfare of Turkish Cypriots, Turkey will resolutely continue to do their part with the awareness of their responsibility coming from past to present, Turkey will continue to give support for the development and strengthening of  the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in every field, and Turkish Cypriots will move forward to a bright future under the full and effective guarantee of Turkey.

ATALAY: “IF THE GREEK CYPRIOT SIDE INSISTS ON USING RESOURCES IN SOUTH PART OF THE ISLAND UNILATERALLY, A TWO-STATE SOLUTION CAN BE BROUGHT TO THE AGENDA”

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Beşir Atalay, said “If the Greek Cypriot side insists on using the resources in the south part of island unilaterally, a two-state solution can be brought to the agenda”.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Beşir Atalay, gave a speech during the parade and emphasized that he was happy to be sharing the Besir Atalayjoy of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Pointing out that there has been peace in the island since 20 July 1974, Beşir Atalay stated that a repetition of the hard times would never be allowed in Cyprus.

Pointing out that Turkish Cypriots, who gained their freedom after 1974, established and protected their State, Atalay said “Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus spent efforts and did their part for a just and lasting solution up until today. Assuming that Turkish Cypriots would accept to live in the status of a minority is a vain hope. The solution will be on the ground of realities in the island”.

Atalay said “If the Greek Cypriot side is sincere on a solution, she should focus on the negotiations instead of escaping from the negotiation table. If the Greek Cypriot side insists on using the resources in the south part of the island unilaterally then the two-state solution can be brought to the agenda”.

EROĞLU: “TURKISH CYPRIOTS HAVE MADE PROGRESS FROM PAST UNTIL TODAY”

TRNC President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu underlined that the Turkish Cypriots have made progress from past until today, and emphasized that what is important is to protect the State.

President Eroğlu received the President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Cemil Dervis Eroglu 4Çiçek, and the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Beşir Atalay, and the delegations together with them separately who were in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to take part in the 39th anniversary celebrations of the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day.

President Eroğlu stated in the speeches he made during the meetings that the international community should get over the wrong opinions. He added that in order to reach a solution in the negotiations, the Greek Cypriots should sit at the negotiation table with the will of a solution.

Stating that there are two equal peoples, two separate States and democracy in Cyprus, Çiçek emphasized that Turkish Cypriots are not a minority. Çiçek stated that a just and lasting solution will provide the peace, and added that the Turkish Cypriot side will carry on their well-intentioned attempts in this aspect.

On the other hand, Beşir Atalay made a speech during the meeting and said “I celebrate the 39th anniversary of 20th July Peace and Freedom Day once again. I hope the future of the TRNC will be better. I extend these wishes to you on behalf of myself and the Republic of Turkey”.

SİBER:“BEING A RECOGNIZED COUNTRY IS THE ONLY DEMAND OF TURKISH CYPRIOTS”

TRNC Prime Minister, Sibel Siber, has received the President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Cemil Çiçek, who was in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to take part in the 39th anniversary celebrations of the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day.

Sibel Siber said “Now, the Turkish Cypriots who live in freedom have only one demand and Sibel Siberthis is to become a recognized country, to be represented in sportive and cultural activities with their own institutional entity. We believe that this is the right of Turkish Cypriots”.

Drawing attention that many promises given to the Turkish Cypriots have not been kept by the international community, Siber said “we deserve such things because of our efforts towards a solution”

Stating that either the world does not understand the Turkish Cypriots or the Turkish Cypriots cannot express themselves clearly, but in any case, Turkish Cypriots should endeavour more, Siber pointed out that Turkey which is the only country that recognizes TRNC and which is like a bridge connecting Turkish Cypriots to the world supports the Turkish Cypriots both materially and spiritually.

KIRIMOGLU:“WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH TRNC. WE ARE HOPING IN THE FUTURE ALL THE OBSTACLES WILL BE REMOVED AND WE SHALL BE TOGETHER, SUPPORTING EACH OTHER…’

The President of the Republic, Derviş Eroğlu, accepted Crimea Tatar National Assembly President and Ukraine Parliamentarian, Mustafa Abdülcemil Kırımoğlu, and Crimea Tatar Mustafa Abdülcemil KırımoğluNational Congress Delegate- Crimean Tatars Association President, Aslan Ömer.

Making a speech during the reception at the Presidency on 20th of July, Eroğlu said that he is very happy due to the efforts that Turkish Cypriots have made for years and the new government they have formed and emphasized the importance of 20th of July.

In his speech, Eroğlu pointed to the process of negotiations by saying “We would like to reach a lasting agreement based on our will and the existing facts besides the will of the Greek Cypriots and have a permanent constitution after this agreement.”

Eroğlu highlighted the new president in the South and called him as a possible last chance. He also added that if there were no agreement, there would be always an alternative.

’TRNC IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE TURKISH WORLD’’

In his speech during the reception, Crimea Tatar National Assembly President and Ukraine Parliamentarian, Mustafa Abdülcemil TRNC FlagKırımoğlu, expressed his appreciation and said that the TRNC is an important part of the Turkish World.

Recording that they make a visit to Cyprus every time given a chance, Kırımoğlu reminded the importance of 20th of July by saying ‘We as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea would like to have a strong relationship with TRNC. We are hoping  in the future all the obstacles will be removed and we shall be together, supporting each other…’

MARTYRS OF ALAMINYO SHALL BE COMMEMORATED

20 Turkish Cypriots who became martyrs in the Alaminyo Village in Larnaca during the Turkish Cypriot struggle in 1967 and 1974 will be commemorated today (22nd July).

DAWN WATCH AT YAVUZ CIKARMA BEACH ON 39THANNIVERSARY OF 20TH OF JULY PEACE OPERATION

The annual “Dawn Watch or Vigil” which is being organized for the fourth time took place at the Yavuz Çıkarma Beach in Girne which was the landing point of the Turkish Armed Landing at Escape Beach 1974Forces during the 1974 Peace Operation.

Within the framework of the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations the annual “Dawn Watch or Vigil” which is being organized for the fourth time took place at the Yavuz Çıkarma Beach at 21:30 on 19th July.

A great crowd gathered at the Yavuz Cıkarma Beach and waited until dawn in order to show love and gratitude of the Turkish Cypriot People to the Martyrs and Veterans of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
