GOVERNMENT PROGRAMME WAS READ OUT IN THE PARLIAMENT

The programme of the interim government, which described itself as a provisional government aimed at serving the public on the basis of transparency and accountability, was read out in the parliament on Monday  17th June.

The programme of the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces, Democrat Party-National Forces and Communal Democracy Party interim coalition government was read out at the Republic’s Assembly yesterday.

The first part of the programme was read out by Prime Minister, Sibel Siber, while the second part was read by the Minister of Sibel SiberFinance, Zeren Mungan.

Reading the first part of the programme, Prime Minister Sibel Siber said that it will be the government’s duty to uphold the rule of law and to implement existing legislation according to the laws.

The parliament will convene on Thursday and hold a debate on the programme of the new government.

A full day after the end of discussions on the programme, the Republic’s Assembly will convene to hold a vote of confidence for the new government.

CIRALI: “NEGOTIATIONS ARE BEING REALIZED TO INCLUDE TURKISH CYPRIOTS IN HALOUMI REGISTRATION”

Stating that he mentioned in 2012 to the Cyprus Turkish Department of the EU Commission and Embassies of the EU member countries that halloumi was not only the product of Greek Cypriots but also it belongs to Turkish Cypriots, the President of Board of Directors of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry (CTCI) Ali Cırali said that negotiations are being conducted in order to include also Turkish Cypriots in the registration which will be held in the EU.

Expressing that 17% of the exports in 2012 in the North Cyprus was halloumi, Çıralı said that studies are being conducted within the chamber regarding halloumi which is one of the most important cultural and economic values of the Turkish Cypriots and drew attention to the ‘Halloumi Promotion Group’ which is formed by halloumi producers, related shareholders and experts.

HASIKOS: “TARGET IS TO PREVENT APPLICATIONS TO IMMOVABLE PROPERTY COMMISSION”

Greek Cypriot Internal Affairs Minister, Sokratis Hasikos, has prepared a draft law releasing the purchase and sale of Greek Cypriot properties in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) between Greek Cypriots in order to prevent the applications to be made by Greek Cypriots to the Immovable Property Commission established in the TRNC. According to the draft law, purchasing and selling of the properties in this category will be excluded from any property transfer tax or any other taxes.

JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE BY ISRAEL-GREECE-SOUTH CYPRUS IN SOUTH CYPRUS-CRETE-MEIS TRIANGLE

It has been reported that South Cyprus, Greece and Israel will conduct a joint military exercise and therefore their armed forces will be deployed in South Cyprus and in the area in the following days.

Greek Cypriot daily Alithia, which gave reference to the news of ANT 1, stated that Greek Greek AirforceNational Guard and Israeli armed forces are in preparation for a large scale military exercise to be conducted in South Cyprus and added:

“Greek Cypriot, Israeli and Greek armed forces will gather in South Cyprus and in the area. The military exercise which is conducted with the participation of Greek and Israeli military aircraft which will be carried out in airspace in South Cyprus on Tuesday and Wednesday. The exercise started last Wednesday and is being carried on in South Cyprus in the international waters within the South Nicosia, Tel Aviv and Athens Flight Control Area.
