It was a long hard journey for a group of concerned friends who started to lobby for the introduction of an emergency telephone text system that would enable people to text their blood group and local hospital detail to a database with the aim being to “Save a Life”.

So it was that on Tuesday 23rd April a presentation was held at the TRNC Health Ministry when the Health Minister, Dr. Ertuğrul Hasipoğlu was delighted to receive a delegation led by Steve Collard who presented posters which had been designed by Semin Başsezen a year 7 student at the English School of Kyrenia to help promote this scheme.

When the scheme was first introduced 37 people recorded their details and this number has since risen to 70 people.
