Harley Owners Group established in TRNC

On Saturday, 6th April 2013, I had the great pleasure to be invited to the foundation festival of the Harley Owners Group – H.O.G. – Cyprus Chapter.
The party started at 2pm and when my girlfriend Heidi and I came to the Bikers Club in Girne there were already a reasonable number of guests enjoying the catering provided and waiting for the things that should happen.
For me, being a motorcyclist for more than 30 years, the sight of the heavy chrome gleaming machines was heartwarming and exciting at the same time.
Among the guests of honour to arrive were the Head of the District Office (Kaymakam) Gürkan Kara, the Girne Mayor Sümer Aygün and the Chancellor of the Girne American University Serhat Akpinar, who is a Harley biker and founding member of the H.O.G. as well.
The 10 founding members – among them our friend and member of The Foreign Residents in the TRNC, Naci Kaya – were obviously very proud of the honour of having launched a Harley Owners Group in North Cyprus.
Numerous guests and members of the press and TV had – after the speeches of Mr. Kara, Mr. Aygün and Mr. S. Akpinar – the opportunity to attend the presentation of his paintings by the artist and North Cyprus biker legend Ali Yüksek, called Jawa Ali, who has seemingly dedicated his life to motorcycling.
In honour of the day special H.O.G. cakes were cut and distributed to the guests.
The fabulous group “Tattoed Band” gave their performance of Hard Rock music which blended in an excellent way with the successful event.
I am looking forward seeing the motorbikes and their riders again on 21st April when, as a part of the Lapta Tourism Festival, a motorcycle tour will take place. For more info about that click here
