6th April – SaturdayClay Shooting

Re-scheduled event (originally 23rd March) due to bad weather.  Lapta Tourism Festival. 1st Skeet & Sporting Clay Shooting Tournament from 9am until sunset.  Entry fee 65TL.  See article for further information by clicking here.

7th April – SundayBicycle border

4th Lapta Municipality Cycle Tour starting at 10am from Alsancak Akcan Cycle Shop.  The route will be St Hilarion – Kozan Picnic area.  Bicycles will be available for rent at 20TL each.  There will be a meal after the cycle tour at Kozan Picnic Restaurant at 25TL per person.  Minimum age to take part 15 years old.  If anyone requires to rent a bicycle or book a meal this must be done by 5th April.  For more information contact Berke Ertopaloğlu on 0533 834 9878

8th April – MondayRBL

RBL Quiz Night including card draw game at the Deniz Kizi Hotel.

8th to 12th April  –Monday to Friday

Photography Exhibition “Aphrodite Lovestones” by German photographer Anna Worth in the gallery of the Goethe Institute, Lefkoșa.  The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 7pm

9th April – TuesdayNCCCT logo

NCCCT will be holding their monthly coffee morning at The Malpas Hotel, Ҫatalköy.  Always a nice event to attend.

11th April – ThursdayFriends of the TRNC Emergency Services

The Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services will be holding their Annual Ball at the Rocks Hotel, Girne.    Tickets will be 120TL per person and includes a 4-course meal and local drinks.  There will be live music and entertainment with Hasan, the Rocks pianist, Kristina a popular singer from the South and the Niyal Ozturk trio, a local group, who have a large range of songs from the 40’s to present day.  Dress – Black Tie/Lounge Suit.  To book for this very popular annual event call Brenda on 0533 840 7834 or Jenny on 0533 876 1483 or call at the stall at Lambousa Saturday market. Tickets are selling fast. 

Please note that the road from HSBC may still be closed and you may have to approach from Girne High Street.

12th April – FridayAntiques and Collectors Fair

Antique & Collectors Fair at Chateau Lambousa from 9am to 2pm

13th April – SaturdayBritish Residents

The British Residents’ Association will be holding their Annual General Meeting at The Dome Hotel, Girne starting at 11am.  This will be followed by a Spring Lunch and tickets are available at the BRS stall Lambousa Market – Lapta. The Hut – Girne on Saturdays from 10am to 12 noon, and at Cafe George – Girne on Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon.

14th April – SundayKANSERLOGOTURKISH sml

The Corner House, Ozanköy will be holding a festival from 1pm to 6pm in aid of Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips).  There will be stalls, bouncy castle, face painting and entertainment by local school children, a dance group from Lefkoșa and music by the Corner House Band.  There will also be a “scavenger hunt” around the village – 5TL (to Tulips) to participate and maps and clues will be provided.  The team back in the fastest time with the most questions answered will win a prize.  Sounds like a fun-packed afternoon.

15th April – MondayNCCCT logo

NCCCT Bingo Night at The Ravine in Alsancak starting at 8pm  There is a rollover jackpot of 1,200TL.  A book of 6 cards @ 35TL. Free raffle and the famous Mars bars for the winners.  Pre-order a nice supper of Fish & Chips for 15TL when you arrive to be served at half-time.  A good evening’s entertainment.

This date is the anniversary of Rod Lloyd’s death and Carole has asked if people would support the event in Rod’s memory.

17th April – WednesdayFriends of the TRNC Emergency Services

Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services will be holding their monthly Afternoon Tea Talk at the Mountain View Hotel at 3pm.  The speaker will be Peter Wills whose talk is called  “Name Dropper” and will be about celebrities he has met during his career.

18th April – ThursdayKANSERLOGOTURKISH sml

Lee Hickens has organised a Tribute to George Roper entitled “The Show Must Go On”.  This will be at the Haci Ali Hotel in Lapta starting at 7pm.  There will be music from the Gipsy Brothers and Lee himself, there will also be dancing, a Quick Quiz (5TL) and an auction.  This sounds like a good night and it is hoped to raise some funds for Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) in George’s memory.

20th April – SaturdayKANSERLOGOTURKISH sml

This will be the 3rd Esentepe Fun Run and will be in memory of George Roper who died in 2012 and was the instigator of the original event to raise funds for Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips). The route will take the “old shore” road between the Carrington main office (co-located with Magic Bar) and the main junction to Esentepe.  The runs will be 2k starting at 10am (registration 08.30), 10k starting at 11am (registration 9am) and 5k starting at 12 noon (registration 9.30am).  The 2k and 5k will be on the shore route and the 10k will follow the same route but will have 40m on the main road.

21st April – SundayKar new very sml 180 wide

Lapta Turism Festival and KAR Dog Show.  This will be from 2pm to 5pm at Sunset Beach Club, Lapta.  Entry fee is 5TL and stalls are available at 30TL each.  All monies from the event will be donated to KAR.  For more details see article by clicking here.

24th April – WednesdayOlive Press Flat Green Bowling

The Olive Press will be celebrating their 1st birthday with a bowls competition from 9am until around 4pm and in the evening there will be a party starting at 8pm.  Tickets will firstly be available to members but after 22nd February any remaining tickets will be available to anyone who would like to attend. 

27th April – SaturdayKANSERLOGOTURKISH sml

Hiking Tour with guide.  Meeting points – Lapta Municipality at 8am and Sadrazamkoy at 8.30am.  The route will be around the Sadrazamkoy area.

29th April – MondayFootball

Football Tournament – Group Stages and Elimination.  The venue is Lapta Football Pitch, registration fee 150TL per team.  There will be prizes of 1000TL, 500TL and 250TL.  Closing date for registration is 26th April.

The Black Olive Cafe/Studio will be holding a May Day Fair from 12 noon.  There will be fun, food, drinks, stalls and music.  KAR will be joining the event to raise some funds for their charity.

The Olive Press will be holding a Spot the Intro night hosted by Max Pickup (Bayrak radio) starting at 8pm.  Teams of 2 people at 10TL per team and there will be fines of 1TL per team for those who are too clever or a bit clueless!  The event is in aid of the Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch.

4th May – Saturdayten-pin bowling

Lapta Tourism Festival – 10 pin Bowling Competition at King’s Bowling Leisure Centre, starting at 10am.

The Foreign Nationals (Barry Snakes protégés) will be performing at Jasmine Court from 8.30pm to 11.30pm.  Entry will be 15TL per person and there will also be food available for those who want to eat.  The event will be in aid of Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips).  This should be a brilliant evening.

6th July – SaturdayChildren in need foundation

The Children in Need Foundation have arranged a brilliant 2-hour concert to be held at the Girne Amphitheatre featuring Legend, Bob Marley & The Wailers Tribute Band.   This is a definite must for those who will be in the TRNC in July.  For more information click here and look out for more details in future Events Calendars.
