First Place For Student of the American College in Kyrenia
Maria Goltseva a year 11 student at the American College, Kyrenia under the GAU Pre-Higher education Consortium Group of Schools has achieved a first place for the examination of Cambridge IGCSE sociology in both the north and south of Cyprus by receiving the highest score.
The American College Principal, Aysu Balkanlar said to GAU TV that they have undertaken many activities as a college and emphasized that their most significant activity is to prepare the students for the international examinations.
Balkanlar underlined the significance of the language examinations and also stated that American College students are being prepared for the future as individuals competent with languages like English, Turkish and French. Also Balkanlar said that they are very proud of Maria, she added that it is their first award in sociology and they are very honoured. Balkanlar also praised the students from 8th year and onwards who are encouraged in the areas of their abilities and stated that there are teachers who are ready to provide guidance for the students individually.
Maria Goltseva speaking to GAU TV has emphasized that she had worked hard on Sociology and the result wasn’t surprising for her. She also added that the education provided in the American College is a one-to-one system and this therefore brings students great success.
Maria re-stated her happiness for earning the first place in the whole of Cyprus by emphasizing that she received what she worked for. She finally thanked the school administrators, teachers and her family for their support and added that success comes through believing in what you do and also hard work.
