HAPPY FEET 2
Some time ago I wrote an article called Happy Feet which was published in a local newspaper and this was an account of getting myself geared up for the 112’s Ball at The Rocks Hotel in 2012 and paying a little attention to my feet if I was to be comfortable dancing the night away.
Since then I have made my normal regular visits to Suzannah Birt D.S.Ch. at Footloose Footcare Ltd in Alsancak and during this time have noticed the growing amount of paintings and craft items which are displayed at her premises. As I had an appointment in January I thought I would take some photos of these lovely items to share with our readers. I had previously ordered a wrought iron ornament which now proudly sits on my balustrade and there are many more items, large and small, which can be seen in the album also on display and made to order. The many different styles of paintings are by various local artists and there are greetings cards which can also be purchased. Suzannah’s husband, Steve, makes wall-hanging boats from driftwood he gathers from the beach. Steve works on oil rigs and he had previously done a 4 year stint in Russia in the Caspian Sea, now he is working off the Spanish coast so I would think a lot warmer climate than the Caspian Sea.
Susannah treats all types of foot problems including corns, fungal infections, in-growing toenails, hard skin and cracked heels, she is also qualified to care for diabetics’ foot treatment. I asked Suzannah a little more about herself and she told me she was actually born in Malta but was only there for the first 6 weeks of her life before her parents returned to the UK where, over the years, she has lived in many different areas. In 1994 she decided to train to be a Chiropodist and studied for 2 years at the National College of Chiropody in Eire. Suzannah and Steve married in the UK and lived in Partney, Lincolnshire just before they decided to move to North Cyprus 5 years ago. Footloose Footcare Ltd was opened some 3½ years ago.
When I wrote the original article I called it Happy Feet as I had previously seen a movie of that name and thought it very appropriate. Of course there is now a second movie called Happy Feet 2, hence the title of this article. I must say I loved the first film and readers may like to see a short clip from this by clicking here as well as viewing the slideshow below of some of the items on display at Suzannah’s shop.
