2013    Golden Hearts Raffle in aid of Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips)  This year’s Golden Hearts Raffle was launched on the 1st October 2012 and will be drawn in the second week of January 2013. The top prize is worth over 1,000TL and the second prize over 900TL. 3rd November – Saturday Bonfire and Firework Extravaganza at Chateau Lambousa in aid of Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR).  Games and stalls and fun for all. For further details click KAR Bonfire Night
4th November – Sunday To assist people living east of Girne to renew their membership, the Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch, Membership Secretary – Mary Hughes – will be at Soyz Bar market in Çatalköy between 9am and 12 noon. Please come along and support this worthy charity.  The renewal cost for 2012/13 is £16 or the TL equivalent on the day. Direct Debit paying members should pay the additional branch membership fee of £3 if they have already paid their £13 to RBL HQ in London. New membership costs remain at £20 or the TL equivalent.
4th November – Sunday 2pm kick-off.  Rugby Match in Alsancak between The Pumas and Unique Nomads.  7TL entrance fee.
5thNovember – Monday Now cancelled  –sRBL – Supper and Talk – ‘Shadows of Empire’ by the cultural historian Dorothy Betts at 7.30pm at the Deniz Kizi hotel in Alsancak.

“The Weakest Link” to be held at Jasmine Court Hotel, proceeds in aid of SPOT.  Tickets are 50TL and include a 4-course meal and can be obtained from Lambousa Market on Saturdays or by telephoning – 0533 872 4160.  There will be raffle with some really good prizes and there are some well-known names already lined up to face “Anne Robinson” so don’t delay in booking a place as this has proved to be a very popular event in the past.

6th  November –  Tuesday News received from RBL on 26th September advising that the date of the Poppy Ball has now been changed to Tuesday 6th November.  All other details remain the same. aRBL Kyrenia Branch will be holding their Poppy Ball at the Cratos Premium Hotel in Catalkoy, starting at 7.30pm. This is open to members and guests. Tickets are 130TL for members and 150TL for non-members.  A deposit of 30TL will be required when booking which can be done at Lambousa Saturday Market. There will be a coach from Karsiyaka on a first come first served basis.   aDiscounted accommodation is offered by the Cratos and reservations should be made by contacting Jacqui Smith at the Cratos on 0533 8203105. Entertainment is being planned including an eight piece jazz combo band and also the sensational Simon Barter, along with a few surprises on the night.
7th November – Wednesday Concert featuring the Band of the Parachute Regiment in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) to be held at the WO’s and Sergeants Mess at Dhekelia Garrison, South Cyprus.  Tickets 10 Euros.  To see article click ABF
9th November – Friday Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR) will be holding their annual “Winter Sparkles” fashion sale at St Andrew’s Church Hall from 11am.  Many bargains will be available for those Christmas and New Year parties. Click Winter Sparkles
9th November – Friday The Olive Press are holding an “Intro Quiz” starting at 7.30pm. Registered players will receive a free Chip Buttie and all proceeds will go to The Children in Need Foundation.   For more information go to: http://www.olivepressbowlingcyprus.com/
9th November – Friday 7pm –  The Black Olive Café in Incesu is holding a Ladies Night. The theme is an introduction to Indian Head Massage, there will be a charge of 10tl if you want an actual taster of the massage or you can just watch and listen and chat with friends. The set meal will be (Indian) Butter Chicken and Rice or Chicken Salad and wedges (15tl including a glass of wine).  Please book if you want to attend and have a massage and/or the meal by emailing Vicki at theblackolivecafe@gmail.com
10th November – Saturday ATA are planning a Ten Pin Bowling event at the Kings Leisure Centre, Zeytinlik starting at 3.30pm for members, their families and friends.. A meal will be available of Fish & Chips or a Vegetarian Option with a soft drink included.  The cost will be Members 25 TL and Non-members 30 TL aPlease book by email to  ata.events@yahoo.com  or telephone 0542 851 8377 (Pearl) for more information. Your meal choice should be stated when booking and final bookings must be made by Wednesday 7th November at St Andrews Church Hall, Kyrenia between 10am and 12.00 noon. 10th November – Saturday Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch – Poppy Walk 11am starting and finishing at JK’s Bar.  This is a fun and sociable event designed for all ages and capabilities including wheelchair entries and will take the form of a flat and easy circular 5Km route, which includes part of the new coastal path thanks to the Lapta Belediyesi, followed by a second 5km circular around Lapta village. Fancy dress is optional but actively encouraged and JK’s are planning to have a bouncy castle plus live entertainment on the day.  Branch member Lord Maginnis of Drumglass has kindly agreed to launch the walk on the day. The cost to participate is 10tl (or 20tl on the day) and registration forms and sponsorship forms are available from the RBL stall at the Lambousa market, the Courtyard Inn in Karakum or online at: http://www.rblkyrenia.com/events/event_poppywalk.html  Everyone is welcome to participate.
10th November – Saturday The Auction House at Chateau Lambousa, Lapta will be holding their next auction starting at 1pm.  Viewing on Friday 9th November from 10am until 3pm.
11th November – Sunday Remembrance Sunday service at the Old British Cemetery at 12.25pm The Rev. Richard Frost will be officiating, he has now been officially nominated as the Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch, Chaplain.The service will be followed by lunch at the Ship Inn, Karaoğlanoğlu at 30TL Bookings required through the Entertainment Secretary by emailing event@rblkyrenia.comor telephone 0533 8736876
11th November – Sunday Lefke Date Day.  The usual 2-day festival has been changed to one day only.  There will be stalls with local produce including dates and strawberry juice plus crafts and many other interesting items.  
14th November – Wednesday Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services will be holding their Afternoon Tea Talk at the Mountain View Hotel, the speaker will be Major Brian Thomas talking about The Guard at Windsor Castle.  There will be the normal sandwiches and cakes, plus tea or coffee and the raffle and goodie bag to look forward to.  To book a place telephone 0533 876 1483
16th November – Friday Children in Need Foundation (CINF) Winter Ball at the Cratos Premium Hotel, Çatalkőy.  The Manhattans will be performing their fabulous tribute act.   The event starts at 7pm – black tie/cocktail or evening dress.  Tickets are 140TL (£50) and includes a 3-course set meal and local drinks plus imported key spirits. Tickets on sale from Supaclean, Girne and the DVD shop in Catalkoy from mid-October. 17th November – Saturday 10am to 2.30pm.  The Black Olive Café, Incesu will be holding a children’s fun day.  30TL to include lunch snacks and handicrafts.  Book a table by emailing Vicki at theblackolivecafe@gmail.com
18th November – Sunday Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services are organizing a Treasure Hunt around Girne, starting with a meal at Café George in the Plaza area.  This should be a good fun day. More details to follow later.  aNote:   This event has been postponed until Spring 2013 and will be removed from the Events Calendar from the next issue until such time as a new date is confirmed.

NCCCT

NCCCT Bingo at The Ravine in Alsancak starting at 8pm with the usual Mini Mars Bars for the lucky winners.  As the rollover jackpot was won at the last bingo night in October there will now be a new jackpot starting at 900TL  so well worth going along to chance your luck.    
19th November – Monday CESV will be at Sinya Restaurant in Tatlisu where they will be starting first aid evenings from 7pm to 9pm.  All adults are welcome so why not go along and learn some life saving skills in a friendly informal group.   If anyone is interested in joining the CESV team contact Steve Collard on 0548 845 5927 or go along to Tatlisu on the 19th November for a chat.
23rd November  – Friday 7pm – The Black Olivc Café in Incesu will be holding a Fun Quiz.  15TL to include supper.  Teams must be pre-booked by contacting Vicki at theblackolivecafe@gmail.com
26th November – Monday Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch – Annual General Meeting. In the Dining Room of the Deniz Kizi Hotel, Alsancak.  Registration starts at 7.30pm, Meeting at 8pm.  Members only who must have a valid membership card in order to attend and vote.
28th November – Wednesday The Black Olive Café in Incesu are hoping to hold a cake decorating class so if you are interested  please contact Vicki at theblackolivecafe@gmail.com   More information to follow.
30th November – Friday Kyrenia Chamber Choir will be holding their annual Christmas Concert in the Crypt at Bellapais Abbey
30th November – Friday 7pm – Ladies Night at The Black Olive Café, Incesu.  The theme will be a Clothes Show (details to follow). If you have any ideas for future themes please let Vicki know by emailing her at  theblackolivecafe@gmail.com

5th and 6th December Wednesday & Thursday Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services will be holding their seasonal “sing-alongs” at the Mountain View Hotel starting at 7.30pm.  The price is 25TL which will include a plate of seasonal nibbles.  This is always a popular event so book early to avoid disappointment.
8th December – Saturday Children’s Fun Day at The Black Olive Café in Incesu.  More details to follow.
15th December – Saturday Children’s Christmas Party at The Black Olive Café in Incesu.  More details to follow.
21st December – Friday Christmas Fun Quiz at The Black Olive Café in Incesu.  More details to follow.
