RAFFLE OF FAMOUS RUGBY BALL

By the Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch

News has just been received of another bumper event being launched by the Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch in aid of this years Poppy Appeal and details are shown under.

The RBL, Kyrenia Branch is to raffle off a rugby ball in aid of the 2012 poppy appeal. The ball is signed by 20 of the 1995 England rugby squad, including Captain Will Carling, who that year came fourth in the Rugby World Cup.

The ball is owned by the branch standard bearer Kim Tyler who said: “I actually won the ball in a Sergeant’s Mess Christmas draw and have treasured it ever since”.

“But I think that the time is now right to try to make some money for the RBL Poppy Appeal and I would love to see sports bars and clubs in the TRNC bid for the honour of owning the ball as it should remain in this country. Ideally I would like to have a 500TL reserve price on this little piece of history which is signed by all 21 of the 1995 squad including; Will Carling, Mike Catt, Rory Underwood, Graham Rowntree, Kyran Bracken, Jerry Guscott, Jason Leonard, Graham Dawe, Tim Rodber, Martin Johnson, Andy Robinson and Ben Clark.”

Branch Chairman Brian Thomas said: “This is a very kind gesture from Kim and I hope that sports bars and clubs take up the challenge and put in a bid to support this very worthy cause. Along with the inaugural Poppy Ball being held at the Cratos hotel on Tuesday, November 6 for which over 200 members are booked to attend, followed by the first ever Poppy Walk scheduled for 11am on Saturday, November 10 which is attracting a lot of interest, this should be a bumper year for the 2012 Poppy Appeal in the TRNC.”

Anyone intending to bid for the ball should contact Mr Thomas direct on 0533 841 1882.
