Ten Pin Stars go Kings Bowling

I have been to Kings Leisure Centre a number of times and on one occasion I joined in a game of ten pin bowling and found it to be very enjoyable.

To my great delight I was invited back to the centre a few days ago to witness players in action and more importantly the lunch and prize winning ceremony of the TRNC Premier Ten Pin Bowling League.

I met with Sally Smith who, together with her husband Steve, have been co-organising the match events and league management of the group for the past two years. It seems participation in this group is high with a membership that has grown from 34 two years ago to 70 with many other occasional players coming along as guest players as well.

So the league players arrive in the upstairs restaurant to take their places at tables set out for them and had time to sit and relax as the centre staff proceeded to bring and set up a splendid lunch. I spoke to Trevor Hughes, one of the group members and he said they all pay 60TL each a year and this goes towards the cost of this meal and event.

Sally Smith started the proceedings by presenting a number of certificates to members who had played so well and then she introduced Növber Dağlı the Assistant General Manager from DAĞLI SİGORTA who had sponsored the 2012 activities and she confirmed that they would also be giving new sponsorship during 2013.

Now came the highlight of the event with Trophies being awarded to both individuals and team members and one small amusing thing to note was that the Turkish made trophies were of a man so the organisers had sown white skirts onto the trophies awarded to lady members.

As with any prize-giving there is great fun and enjoyment and for those winning a wooden spoon there was the opportunity to win a wooden fork which makes a nice salad serving set.

Soon it was time to eat and what a meal it was, it looked splendid and so well laid out and Hasan Kutluer the General Manager was on hand to make sure everything was perfect for his guests. With many happy players eating the delights of the house as I was leaving the smell of cooking kebabs made my mouth water and I realised just what a great treat the guests were enjoying.

What can you say, the Kings Leisure Centre is a very impressive place of entertainment and should appeal to all members of the family with so much to do and enjoy and it should be noted that the various ten pin bowling league activities take place mainly on Monday and Tuesday mornings so many lanes can be in use if you would like to go there with your friends and families.
