KARPAZ – SUSPECTS TAKEN TO COURT

Last week, 7 Syrian immigrants lost their lives off the coast of Karpaz Peninsula as a result of the sinking of their boat.

 Yunus Gulduran, Niyazi Korkmaz, Mustafa Korkmaz and Abdullah Temiz, believed to be part of a human smuggling group that had caused the death of Syrians, two of them children, were taken to Gazimagusa District Court on Monday.

Gazimagusa District Court’s Judge for Criminal Cases, Hale Ahmet Rasit noted the importance of their alleged crime and decided to arrest the suspects for 8 days under police supervision. Rasit also gave order for check-up of Niyazi Kokmaz and Mustafa Korkmaz.

Moreover, it was stated that police are continuing their investigation and one more person is being searched for following the incident.
