PRESIDENT EROĞLU: ‘IF YOU LOOK AT THE AGES OF PEOPLE MASSACRED, YOU CAN SEE THE OBVIOUS VIOLENCE ’
The 126 Turkish Cypriots who were massacred at Murataga Sandallar and Atlılar villages were commemorated on the 38th anniversary of their massacre.
During his speech at Murataga-Sandallar Martyrs’ Cemetery, President Derviș Eroğlu said that people fro
m 16 day old babies to 85 year old people lay at the cemetery and this shows the obvious violence.
Eroğlu added that Turkish Cypriots are aware of their demand and they want to reach an agreement under the effective and de facto guarantee of Turkey.
Prime Minister Irsen Küçük, 28. Division Commander Major General İlhan Talu, Security Forces Commander Baki Kavun, Deputy Commander Mehmet Soğancı, Minister of Health Ahmet Kasif, some deputies, military and civil authorities also attended the ceremony besides Eroğlu.
The second ceremony was arranged at Atlılar Cemetery. During his speech, Eroğlu underlined that Greek Cypriots wanted Turkish Cypriots to forget the period between 1963-1974 but Greek Cypriots never forget their past, they 
commemorate EOKA members and still want to go back to Girne, Karpaz and Guzelyurt. Adding to his speech that Turkish Cypriots will never forget the past, Eroğlu said ‘The Peace Operations made the Turkish Cypriots win a piece of geography so Turkish Cypriots have established their own state’.
Moreover, Eroğlu underlined in his speech that it should be clear whether we will reach a solution in one year or not because we as the Turkish Cypriots do not want to be continued to be harmed by Greek Cypriot embargoes. If the second stage of the Peace Operation was not realized, these massacres would have continued throughout the whole country. Some Turkish Cypriots were taken to prison camps in Limasol and killed there, that’s why the second stage of the Peace Operation was inevitable.
38th. ANNIVERSARY OF SERDARLI’S LIBERATION WAS CELEBRATED
In his speech during the ceremony organized for the 38th. Anniversary of Serdarlı’s liberty, President Derviş Eroğlu said that no one should expect the Turkish Cypriots to sign an agreement which will destroy their freedom and sovereignity because Turkish Cypriots will never sign an agreement that destroys bi-zonality, bi-communality and mainland Turkey’s effective and de facto guarantee.
The ceremony was held on Tuesday 14th August at 19:00pm in front of the Serdarlı Ataturk Monument.
