TRNC News 13.4.2017 Özgürgün congratulates NEU Women’s Basketball Team


Özgürgün hails “meaningful and important” victory of Near East University Women’s Basketball Team at FIBA Eurocup

Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün congratulated the Near East University Women’s Basketball Team after their victory at the FIBA Women’s Eurocup.

In his celebration message, Özgürgün congratulated the NEU team for their great historical success, in which they defeated their opponent Bellona AGÜ and became a champion in the final match yesterday evening in İstanbul.

Özgürgün, continued: “The NEU Women’s Basketball Team, who are now number one in Europe after winning the championship, have achieved a meaningful and important success for our country where unfair sporting embargoes have been imposed for a long time.”

Özgürgün also congratulated the NEU Founding Rector, Suat Günsel for his great success in encouraging young people to pursue sporting endeavours, the women basketball players, coaches, all the technical team and the NEU family, and wished them success in achieving new goals.

Near East University defeated Bellona AGÜ with a score of 63-58 in the final match held at Caferağa Sports Hall in İstanbul and became the 2016-2017 champions of the Eurocup Women’s organization.

GAU among top 10 in EDUNIVERSAL ranking with 7 different post-graduate programs

EDUNIVERSAL, the international accrediting agency that monitors universities in the European Higher Education system announced their “Universities with Best Masters Education” rankings.

Girne American University (GAU) ranked among the top 10 universities, with 7 different post-graduate programs throughout Eurasia and Middle Eastern countries in 2016-2017.

In the ranking compiled by EDUNIVERSAL, GAU has also been ranked among the 100 best post-graduate programs with all of its master programs, out of 4000 universities.
