NCCCT Christmas Bazaar 2016
NCCCT Christmas Bazaar
10th December 2016
The North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT) held its Christmas Bazaar at the lovely Hotel Pia Bella in Girne on Saturday, 10th December. Just over 300 people joined us on what turned out to be a beautiful day.
There were lots of stalls to browse, including those selling Christmas hampers, ceramics, doorstops, jewellery, jams, preserves, plants, and lots more. The ladies from Çatom Koop travelled all the way from Dipkarpaz to sell their traditional handmade products and later very generously donated some of their items for the NCCCT auction.
The NCCCT stalls were stocked with items from our secondhand shops in Girne, namely Heartbeat and The Hut. The NCCCT cake stall contained items baked by Mehmet Aktun, Karen Flagg, Lesley Nixon, Liz Wood, and numerous other kind people. Thank you to everyone who baked cakes for the NCCCT, including Carole Shanley, who made an amazing 600 mince pies.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, we had some fabulous raffle prizes up for grabs, including accommodation and meals at some of the top establishments in North Cyprus.
Neil and Brenda placed the highest bid for an overnight stay at The Rocks Hotel in Girne. Other auction prizes included a Christmas cake donated by Lynn Dyer and a sponge cake donated by Upper Crust, which were both beautifully decorated.
The total raised was a fabulous 12,727TL. This sum was boosted by Margaret Keenan, who presented 1,000TL from the NCCCT bingo, which takes place each week at The Lodge in Çatalköy.
Thank you to everyone who made this event so successful: the staff at Hotel Pia Bella who looked after us so well; everyone who baked and donated cakes; all the local businesses that donated raffle prizes; Margaret Keenan and Barbara Fursman for their continued support in running the NCCCT Bingo and NCCCT Quiz; and, last but not least, our hard-working team of volunteers:
Joan, Diana, Peter, Jacki, Beyhan, Joann, Carole, Irene, Sue, Becky, Elizabeth, Alan, Bob, John, and of course Marion Stuart and Carole Lloyd, who did a great job of selling the raffle tickets.
Every single lira raised will be used to purchase equipment for the state hospital in Girne.
