St Andrew’s Church, Kyrenia, Harvest Festival review
The Harvest Festival Service began at St Andrew’s Church in Kyrenia, on Sunday 25th September as the glorious sunshine streamed through the windows onto a packed congregation. In fact, the overflow facility in the church hall had to be used, here worshippers were able to join with those in the church upstairs by means of the large screen and sound system.
The Reverend Wendy Hough, ably assisted by her colleagues, Reverend Michael Graham and Reverend Edward Jevis, celebrated the Eucharist to the accompaniment of uplifting organ music, provided by John Crothers. The congregation “ploughed the fields and scattered” in a church which had been beautifully decorated the previous day with flowers and produce. There was also a birthday cake to celebrate Sundaze, the St. Andrew’s children’s Sunday service, being one year old.
At the end of the service, Rev Wendy warmly invited all present, both regular worshippers and their guests, to a come and share lunch in the grounds of the Hermitage. Around 75 people accepted the invitation and everyone feasted on a delicious selection of savoury and sweet gifts. It was a wonderful time of sharing and fellowship. Good people, good food and a good time had by all.
